What is Montessori Home School Hub, and how does it support home-educated children in Brighton?

Montessori Home School Hub is a learning environment designed specifically for home-educated children and flexi - schooling children in Brighton and surrounding areas. We follow Montessori principles, focusing on hands-on learning, self directed activities, and a child-led approach to education.

Our sessions provide a structured yet flexible learning experience, helping children develop independence, confidence, and a love of learning. Whether your child is flexi-schooling, new to home education or has been learning at home for years, our hub offers support, resources and a like-minded community.

Who can join Montessori Home School Hub, and what age group do you support?

Montessori Home School Hub is open to home-educated children and flexi schooling children aged 6 - 12 years old. Our mixed-age setting reflects the Montessori approach, where children 0of different ages learn together, building collaboration, leadership, and independence.

Why Mixed Aged Learning?

  • Older children build confidence by mentoring younger peers.

  • Younger children learn naturally by observing and engaging with older students.

  • Children develop social skills in a cooperative, supportive environment.

How is Montessori Home School Hub different from traditional tutoring or home education groups?

Unlike traditional tutoring, which often focuses on structured lessons and worksheets, we use Montessori principles to encourage self-directed, hands on learning.

Instead of passive instruction, children:

  • Choose their own activities based on their interests.

  • Work with Montessori materials designed for hands on exploration.

  • Develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and independence.

Our sessions also offer social opportunities, allowing home-educated children to interact in a supportive, mixed-age setting.

Are you a drop off setting or do parents stay?

Montessori Home School Hub is a drop-off setting, designed to encourage independence and confidence in home educated children. We understand that some children may feel nervous at first, but in our experience, they settle in much quicker when the separation is swift and positive.

Tip for a smooth drop-off: You can say something like "You have to go and do your work, and I've got to go and do mine."

Ben, our lead educator, has years of experience in helping children feel comfortable and engaged. Our welcoming environment ensures your child quickly adapts, builds confidence, and enjoys their learning time with us.

Can my child join if they have no previous Montessori experience?

Absolutely! No prior Montessori experience is needed to join Montessori Home School Hub. Many parents who contact us have never heard of Montessori before, and that's completely fine! Our sessions are designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and adaptable to all children, regardless of their previous learning experiences.

At Montessori Home School Hub, we focus on:

  • Hands-on, engaging activities that spark curiosity

  • A child-led approach that builds confidence and independence

  • A supportive environment where children learn at their own pace.

Even if your child has only experienced traditional schooling or other home education styles, they will quickly adapt to our practical, self-directed learning approach.
